A contemplative pre-Advent concert evening awaits you with Bach for violin and solo organ, as well as wonderful works for violin and organ by Pärt and Rheinberger. The Imperial Court Chapel will be bathed in colourful light as you experience the highly talented young violinist Julian Walder from Vienna, who has won several international awards. Robert Kovács, winner of several organ competitions and partner of the Vienna Philharmonic and the Wiener Symphoniker among others, will play the organ for you - a duo for an unforgettable concert in late autumn to relax and immerse yourself in the upcoming Advent season.

Julian Walder was born in Vienna in October 2000, he was awarded the 1st prize of the NYIAA/USA in 2018 and gave his 1/2 hour recital at the Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in New York with great success. He is a Grand Prix winner of the "Grumiaux Competition" in Belgium, received the 2nd prize at the OSAKA Music Competition in Japan and was a prize winner at the prestigious Henri Marteau International Violin Competition in Germany in 2023 with the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto and the Hofer Symphoniker. As the "Best of" winner of Musica Juventutis, Julian was broadcast live from the Wiener Konzerthaus in the ORF evening programme. In May 2024, Julian represented Austria in Indonesia with the Korngold Violin Concerto in the Jakarta Concert Hall and the Jakarta Concert Orchestra. As part of his BACH tour in late autumn 2022 (Germany, Austria and Italy), Julian made his highly successful debut at the Imperial Court Chapel in Vienna together with organist Robert Kovács. Concert appearances have taken him to the USA, Indonesia, Russia, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Poland and Austria (including the Wiener Musikverein/ Wiener Konzerthaus). Julian is an artist of the Spanish label KNS Classical and has released his second album "Faust" worldwide in 2021.

He studied with Arkadij Winokurow, Yair Kless, Natalia Prishepenko and currently with David Frühwirth at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw). Julian Walder has been teaching his own masterclass for violin at the Lilienfeld Summer Academy since 2022.

Robert Kovács was born in Hungary in 1976 and received piano lessons from László Bojtár from the age of five and began playing the organ with György Peskó at the age of 12. After graduating from the conservatory in Budapest in 1994, he studied concert organ (with Herbert Tachezi, Hans Haselböck and Peter Planyavsky) and church music at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where he graduated with honours in 2002. He has won first prize at the organ festival in Hungary, the Intern. Improvisation Competition in Haarlem, as well as at the Intern. Organ Competition in Schlägl. He has been organist at St Augustine's Church in Vienna since 1997, was collegiate organist at St Florian's Abbey (Upper Austria) from 2004-2006 and cathedral organist and church music consultant for the diocese of Eisenstadt from 2009 to 2015. His diverse, international solo concert activities have taken him beyond the borders of Europe to Japan, Russia, the USA, Israel and Syria. He regularly performs as a partner of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Wiener Symphoniker, the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Lower Austrian Tonkünstler Orchestra, the Vienna Singverein and the Arnold Schönberg Choir. In 2019, he was appointed organist of the Vienna Imperial Court Chapel.
