Together with the ALBERTINA the series of "IMPULSE in the Imperial Court Chapel" goes into the next round on 20 December 2023, 12:00-12:30. On the occasion of the 525th anniversary of the Vienna Court Music Ensemble, this series will take us through the centuries of music and the fine arts.

After a welcoming address by Jürgen Partaj, Director of the VIENNA COURT MUSIC ENSEMBLE, and a musical sequence, Klaus Albrecht Schröder, General Director of the ALBERTINA, will present Egon Schieles "Sitting couple" in a short impulse. The 25-30 minute event will be musically arranged by violinist Lara  Kusztrich (Member of the Vienna Court Music Ensemble).

Treat yourself to a cultural lunch break and let yourself be carried away for half an hour into the special atmosphere of the Vienna Imperial Court Chapel.

Lara Kusztrich, violin

Lara Kusztrich, born in Vienna on July 4, 1994, received her first violin lessons at the age of seven, from Dr. Juri Polatschek. In June 2021 she graduated with distinction from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, class of professor Lieke te Winkel.

She has won numerous national and international competitions (including several prima la music competitions and the Musica Juventutis competition) and awards (including the Mozarteum International Summer Academy and, in 2018, the incentive award Förderpreis für junge Musikerinnen und Musiker - Stiftung Margaretha Schenk by the Mozartgemeinde Wien).

Kusztrich has performed as a soloist with various orchestras, including the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, the Slovak State Philharmonic Košice, the Chamber Orchestra of the Angelika Prokopp Summer Academy of the Vienna Philharmonic and the Cappella Istropolitana. Her solo concert performances have taken her to renowned concert venues in Austria (the Schubert Hall at the Wiener Konzerthaus, the Stefanien Hall at the Musikverein Graz, the Great Hall of the Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation, University Mozarteum’s Solitär Hall, the Lisztzentrum Raiding and Esterházy Palace, i.a.) and abroad (Lysenko Hall Kyiv, the Gasteig Munich, the Festival des Sommets Musical de Gstaad, i.a.).

In April 2019, Lara Kusztrich won the audition for a first violin tutti position of the Vienna State Opera Orchestra/Vienna Philharmonic. She took up her position on September 1, 2020, after having played in the orchestra with a temporary contract during the 2019/20 season.

Additionally, she has been a member of the first violin section of Wiener Hofmusikkapelle since September 2022.

During the 2017 Salzburg Festival, Kusztrich performed stage music (Wirtshausmusik) in Alban Berg’s opera Wozzeck. After that, she worked as a substitute in the Vienna State Opera Orchestra from September 2017 until the end of June 2019 and frequently also in the Vienna Philharmonic during the 2018/19 season. From March until June 2018, she had a temporary contract with the stage orchestra of the Vienna State Opera. Moreover, she has regularly acted as concertmaster for various youth orchestras, for example the Webern Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Zubin Mehta.

Lara Kusztrich has been a member of the piano quintet Philharmonic Five since 2020.

Master classes she has taken include programs with professors Milan Šetena (International Music Forum of the Vienna Philharmonic Trenta 2014), Hubert Kroisamer (A. Prokopp Summer Academy 2017) Josef Hell (A. Prokopp Summer Academy 2018), Eduard Schmieder and Lewis Kaplan (International Summer Academy Mozarteum), Igor Ozim and Serguei Azizian (mdw) and with Ivry Gitlis in Lugano.

Lara Kusztrich plays a violin by Vincenzo Ventapane, Naples, 1770, loaned to her by the Oestereichische Nationalbank.
