Doloris Mysteria

Benefit concert on behalf of "Jugend Eine Welt"

The Mystery Sonatas of Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber

Ensemble dolce risonanza

25 March 2024

Concert start: 6:30 pm
Admission: 6:00 pm

Dedicated to the great Marian devotee Prince-Archbishop Maximilian Gandolph of Salzburg, Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber's sonata cycle on the mysteries of the Holy Rosary is considered a highlight of Baroque music.

Set in 15 different moods, the highly virtuoso violin music transports the listener into a mystical mood. The meditations on the mysteries of the rosary, together with the readings of the corresponding texts from the Gospels, become a unique, contemplative listening experience.

On 25 March, you will hear the five sonatas on the mysteries of the Sorrowful Rosary in accordance with the cycle of the year.
